The vacuole generally occupies a large central portion of the cell and is separated from the cytoplasm by a thin membrane.The pressure of solution in the vacuole helps push the cytoplasm layer against the cell wall, and various mineral salts, and sometimes plant poisons, are stored in the vacuole.
